Installing Oracle Database 18.3 on Windows

This is a quick post about installing Oracle Database 18.3 on my laptop (Windows 10).

First of all download the software media file. You can download the media from:

https://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/oracle18c-windows-180000-5066774.html

The file name is called:WINDOWS.X64_180000_db_home.zip and it is about 4.5GB

Create a folder under d:\app called db183

Unzip the media under this folder d:\app\db183

The extracted software will be looks like:

Please note that in this version the ORACLE_HOME will be the folder that you extracted the media to, in our case , it will be: D:\app\db183\WINDOWS.X64_180000_db_home

Start the installation process by running the “setup.exe”:

Note how the ORACLE_HOME is set automatically in the following screen as the folder that you extracted the media to:

A warning due to week password:

The “Setup.exe” launch screen also displays some info during the installation:

I received some errors:

Examining the above log file, it showed that I have some memory shortage. I freed some memory and clicked “Retry” , and it completed successfully:

That is all!.
